Grabbed the ear of Michelle Martin (marketing/press) & Christopher (customer service) regarding the ist D.
Michelle was surprised to hear the discussions about it possibly might not have the aperture coupling. She assured me that such was not an issue.
Asked Christopher about the interface capabilities of the coming At this point it will only be USB 1.1, but I requested 2.0 and he says the engineers to listen to what is given to them as direct feedback. (Especially since it's not in product yet!)
I also asked for the auto-transmit-on-take feature. (reasonably fast with USB 2.0 or FireWire, but inadequate with USB 1.1) He's going to pass that request onto them as well.
