lens made by Samyang?

Hi Peter,

Based on optical bench and practical tests done by several
friends who were looking for an inexpensive wide-angle zoom
lens, it is probably one of the worst zoom lenses ever made.

It seems to have been unsharp at any aperture, centre or
edge, at any focal length, and had very severe rectilinear
distortion.

Instead, consider a Pentax or, if money is tight, a new
Tokina 19-35mm or the previous 20-35mm, both f/3.5-4.5.
There was an older Tokina 19-35mm which was a
Cosina/Phoenix/Vivitar/Soligor clone with the Tokina brand.
That was also a bad lens.

The new Tamron 19-35mm is also a
Cosina/Phoenix/Vivitar/Soligor clone and is therefore best
avoided.
