As some of you know I could not attend this year's Nature Photography Weekend at GFMtn since I am responsible for the finish line photography for a triathlon I help put on.
My backup photographer - who is a lurker and a Pentax user - was out of town, my secondary had photography commitments elsewhere, and my last resort proved unreliable :-( Anyway to the gist of this post... The backup photographer was headed to a conference in NJ. She took a week of vacation to visit NYC for the first time. I lent her my Pentax-A 24/2.8 and Pentax-F 28/2.8 since the widest lens she has is a 35mm. She has an MZ-5 and a P3 something or other. A couple of days before the triathlon I started to get my gear ready. I use an MZ-S and ZX-5 with the date information enabled to take the photos at the finish line. It was then I realized I had only the Pentax-FA* 24/2 and Pentax-M 28/2.8 available. Not ideal as I like to have either a 24 or 28 on each camera to minimize changing lenses. I thought about using a Pentax-A Zoom 28-135/4. Then I remembered my M42 Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 28/3.5. So I shot the M 28/2.8 on the MZ-S and the Takumar 28/3.5 on the ZX-5 with a K-mount adapter. I was fully manual (including focusing) using an incident light meter to assess exposure. No reason for this post, just sitting here contemplating - as I put some gear away - how I just enjoy the compatibility of Pentax cameras and lenses.
