Like I keep saying, if there is a fair way to compare digital to film then it can only be by putting the best possible print of each side by side. Why prints? Simple, because that's the one medium where both technologies can show their best. Any other medium gives an advantage to one or the other, or can negate an advantage of one over another.
Then I will submit that the best quality "print" you can get with film is actually a slide.
