Hi Kostas, Mmmm... I'll try what you suggested. When I've used it in the past I've always metered the scene (normally in manual mode at 1/125) then popped up the flash. The manual seems to suggest that this will then fire the flash at full power so I compensated for that. Perhaps I was a little harsh on the instruction manual - but in the past I've generally learnt more from Boz's KMP site and this list. The manual for the MZ-6 seems to be aimed at P&S users who are upgrading. Cheers, Simon

I would say "uncharacteristically", as the technique is described in the MZ-50 and MZ-5n manuals at least. In these cameras, all you do is pop the flash and shoot, ensuring that the flash A mode is *off*, if you are shooting in P mode. The other thing you can do (perhaps slightly different) is take a reading of the background, put the camera in Manual mode and set the same combination, then pop the flash and shoot; the manuals think that the exposure of the foreground will be correct too. Why not try it with the MZ-6? Kostas
