So how does it fare for you when the image has an obvious and sharp plane of 
focus, can it deepen the DOF without damaging the areas already in sharp focus?

I can understand how it is supposed to work but is seems that it really is only 
an advantage with an image that is out of focus across the image unlike the 
product Focal Blade.
