Take the price of the lens and divide by the number of people in the pass-around. It occurred to me recently that if the last person on the pass-around shipped it directly to the winner, instead of back to me first, then I wouldn't have to factor that shipping in. And if we buy the lens from a list member, then I wouldn't have to pay the 14% tax if I buy it locally, or the 14% tax plus customs fees if I buy it in the US.
So far I think we have 5 people who are interested in the pass-around: Jim Fellows, Joe Wilensky, Francis Alviar, Bill Kane and Ryan Lee. Adorama sells the 18-35mm for $165 US, so if Robert would be willing to sell it for $150 US including shipping, then we'd be looking at $30 US per person, or $25 US if we get one more person. Again, paying $25 US to rent a new lens for week or so isn't a bad deal at all, especially when you consider that you'll have a 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 chance to win the lens at the end. And paying $25 plus shipping for an 18-35mm lens *definitely* isn't a bad deal. :) I guess we'll see what Robert says. chris On Wed, 5 Nov 2003, Ryan Lee wrote: > Hey Robert, > How much are you selling it for?
