I had to return my first *ist D due to having many hot pixels.  I
noticed them in normal photographs such as this one:

(warning: this is a very big image and a 3mp download).

There are hot pixels everywhere and many of these showed up again in
test photographs (even with fast shutter speeds) when using a black
body cap instead of a lens.

My new camera is much better behaved.
