Are you sure about this? In single AF mode the picture can only be made
after focus confirmation, with servo AF it will fire without waiting for
that. I always assumed for that reason the maximum fps speed would be
achieved in servo AF mode. I have never checked it out since I don't shoot
continuously anyway.

Frits, I'm positive. The fact that the lens is focusing continuously in the
servo mode would slow down fps. Whereas in the single-focus mode, it locks
focus on the first exposure and will remain on that focus point as long as
as the shutter release is held down. Which is what you would do when you're
shooting multi-frame consecutive shots anyway. This would then allow the
motordrive to advance the film to it's maximum speed of 4 fps. since the AF
is not focusing in between shots. The problem with this though is,if the
subject is in motion, you're not guaranteed sharp focus after the first
exposure.
