Hi,
All the Spotmatic cameras are as rugged as any manual, metal camera from the
period with screwmount lenses. They should not be abused (no camera should)
but will take a fair amount of careless use.
The ES, ESII and Spotmatic F will work just the same as the Spotmatic
(stop-down metering) with non-SMC lenses. With SMC lenses you would get the
added benefit of open aperture metering. I don't see any reason to avoid
these cameras on the basis of lens compatibility. The ES's will still work
on automatic just fine.

Subject: PROFESSIONAL screwmount
hi all
I'm looking for the most professional / ruggard M42 Pentax body made...
what should one look out for?
I would however, avoid the ES and ESII as they require the later
M42 SMC lenses for full operability.
