So I did my homework when asked to photograph some ballet and
went along to the dress rehearsal. I the lighting was good,
well, 1600 iso would allow me 150-250 shutter speed at 1.7.
The lights were a constant white(tungsten) with a few colored
spot lights.
So off I went last night to take some photos and what happens?
The stage is lit by some very dull colored light flood lights
and a smoke machine that would rival london fog. At times the
best I could get was a shutter speed of 1/30 so anything
moving was a blur, that is if you could focus throught the
pea-soup fog.

Lesson: Never trust what they tell you the lighting will be like.

Kind regards
Kevin
