*ist D: fat, fat32

I know that the *ist D can use Fat32.
Currently, my 512M compact card is formatted as Fat (Fat16 ?)
So my questions:
- is faster Fat32  as Fat ?
- give Fat32 more capacity for image files ?
- formatting Fat32 ? By computer, auto-selection by *ist D software  
with larger capacity CF ?
