Didn't object to the 50mm, just that it was too close. Very unflattering, IMO ... the nose is way out of proportion to the rest of the face. Looking at it again there's something unsettling about it ... it's subtle, but it looks like the angle of the head is skewed just a scosh, and that adds a certain tension that's not appropriate for this type of portrait.
