I think I will have to put one of these on my wish list. I have always wanted an ultra-wideange. They are not expensive at all, and from the photos you guys show they seem to be good enough for everyday use.

I have the same lens, but I haven't used it in eons. In the seventies I used it extensively for shooting car interiors, and during the custom van craze, modified van interiors. I don't have scans of any of those shots, but here are a couple of shots I took with it during a trip to Sweden in 1980:

I'll have to pull it out and see what kind of condition it's in. You'r right, it's not a bad lens.

(my apologies to those of you who've seen these before, but I'm too lazy to scan more, and these ones are already up on photo.net - besides, there may be several who've come aboard since some of these have been posted)

I really thought this'd be a cheap and nasty lens, but it's not. Distortion is quite acceptable for a lens this wide and the indoor shots were all shot with available light at f3.8 - sharpness is quite good right out to the edges, I think.

I'm still learning how to use it, but the process is way fun! I should take it out more often.

cheers,
frank

I'll ditto that comment, Nick.
I got mine some time ago. I went in for a Pentqx W/A. The old camera
shop owner told me he didn't have one, but to try this Vivitar, and see
what I think. He discounted it handsomely and said he'd take it back if
I didn't like it.
He'll NEVER get it back! <g>
That is a great little lens!
Not all that much for taking frontal shots of cathedrals, as the side
towers look as tho' they're ready to fall inward!
However, keep it reasonably level, and it's without fault!
I too literally carry mine every time I pack my kit. . .
