Aren't children delightful...

Try a kitchen tissue dampened with water and a (literally) drop of
detergent.  Lay it over the affected part and leave until the, er,
residue is softened enough to wipe off with something like a clean,
unstarched t-shirt.  During this process, bake any silica gel bags you
have in the house ready for.... Put the lens and as many bags as
possible into a plastic bag and seal it.  Every hour or so, alter the
zoom of the lens to force air out of it, keeping it in the bag.  Leave
for at least 24 hours.

Pray.

Wear a clothes peg on your nose.
