Maybe my 1.7/50 M is not a good sample but my 3.5/35-105 is sharper at 50 mm and it is 
shaper than my 4/28-70 AL. The new 3.5-4.5/24-90 mm seems the same, sharpness-wise.
The weight actually helps dampen vibration, so I use it with ME and winder ME II.
