Hi Frank,
The AF 1.7 TC provides AF by coupling its TC elements to a helicoid which
is driven by the AF shaft out of the camera body, ie the elements of the TC
move in and out to provide system focus. If it is used in conjunction with an
AF lens the lens will no longer AF as the shaft doesn't continue through the
teleconvertor.
