I cleaned the first spot of noticeable dust off my company-issued D1h
last month, after about 16,000 exposures and six months of use. Canned
air did the job fine. I have yet to clean my D100 after about 6000
exposures. I change lenses a lot. I don't see any problem here (other
than than that film doesn't have this problem at all...)

You DO want to be careful when swapping lenses and such to minimize dust
problems with DSLRs. A more likely problem, and one recently being
addressed by Nikon, is that most zooms act as "dust pumps" bringing dust
in from outside to the optics and to the camera. The extra sealing and
gasketing that N and C pro lenses now get helps prevent this. Apparently
removing the aperture ring and requiring camera control of aperture also
helps.
