From my assignment - which would have been done earlier, but my dog
ate it!

1. "Sunrise Mist" - by Collin Brendemuehl, Ohio, USA

To be honest, my first impression was one of no impression. It just
seemed so flat. Once I really looked at it and positioned my monitor more
favorably I really enjoyed it. Definitely shows the disadvantages of
computer as opposed to print viewing.

I had to look at the film used since it seems almost lacking in
color. It reminds me of some of my shots taken amidst the fog. Most
memorably my latest trip to Utah. I always tend to enjoy photos that remind
me of places I have been, or situations I have been in.

I enjoy the central placing of the trees and sun and do not object
to the bottom being dark, it counters the amount of sky in the scene. It is
almost a built-in border. It is a very soothing scene and one that would
definitely be a good poster to help relax. Great shot!

2. "Maroondah Reservoir" - by Bill Gekas

Good shot! It is often that I have to wait around to get the people
out of my shots. It seems that people dally around more as they see me with
the camera trying to get my shot - at least it seems like it.

I like the way the path is lighter than the surroundings and leads
the viewer's eyes into the picture. Some would complain about the loss of
tree detail but I like it. The wall is the issue here and you have
highlighted it just fine. I like the included sky. I tried cropping it out
and definitely did not like the ensuing images. I cannot think of anything
I would do differently on this.

"Rails" - by Cyril Marion, France

A beautiful capture of the moment I would say. It shows movement
and I like the steadiness of the rails. It brings to mind some of the trips
I have taken by train, though most of these have been underground.

I must admit though, that it does nothing for me as a picture. But
then again, do all photos need to? One thing I do not like about it is the
central (vertical) placing of the end of the rails. It actually would
convey more to me if there was less sky in the picture. I think it is the
brightness of it that overpowers the rest of the image.

All in all a nice shot and again one that conveys a moment in time
that will surely bring back the memories of the holidays.

Now if I can get this in before I lose a grade,

                César Matamoros II
