Bill,

I wouldn't bet against Boz on this one. My KM manual says...

pg5 - "CdS meter measurers the average brightness of the ground glass at full
aperture, and couples directly to aperture, shutter and film speed settings.
and
pg22 - "The light meter built into your KM correctly reads the average of the
light reflected from the entire scene as seen through the viewfinder - with a
little extra importance, or weight, given to what is in the center.
Sometimes, however, there is a great difference between the light reflected
from the background and the light reflected from the subject. In such a
case, to achieve a really good photo, you must compensate..."

Contrast this with the write-up from the manual for the K2 (same vintage)
camera...

pg 5 - "Silicon Photo Diode-activated, aperture-preferred, through-the-lens
meter measures central portion of ground glass at full aperture..."

Furthermore, the metering cells are different between the KM & K1000 versus
the K2 and KX. I don't see how they would be putting a K2 system into a KM,
even if it was the last KM ever made!

So I would take the seller's comments with some skepticism. The KM is a nice
camera, BIG, and a solid alternative/improvement on a K1000. You will have
to look really hard to miss the center weighting of the meter. I never
noticed this shooting with the camera.

Regards, Bob S.

lists it as full frame. I emailed the seller
about this, the reply is included below.

So who's right? full frame or spot? And could
Pentax have changed from frame to spot at the
end of this body's production run?

It is centerweighted according to my instruction manual . This KM is one
 of
the last ones they made. ---Bill >>
