I have had another problem with two pentax me super bodies which did not release the shutter anymore, one not at all and the second one only once or every second time after advancing the film.
That's another extremely common problem and is usually pretty easy to fix - one of the levers under the bottom plate can get bent and stop the shutter from cocking; if that's the case then it's fairly simple to open up the bottom of the camera and bend it back.
