Sometimes I don't erase completely, but instead set the eraser at 75% or so.

I was going to print an enlargement for her. Is there anything I can do in
Photoshop to make her think her skin looks as smooth as it actually is?
Make a duplicate layer (ctrl J), use either clone or healing brush in both
lighten and darken modes to smooth out the light and dark parts (also good
for bags under eyes) then apply gaussian blur, a little heavy, (view at
100%) use the history brush to apply the blur to just the skin (not eyes or
lips) then adjust the opacity of the level to where it looks natural. I
usually bring the opacity down till it just stops looking blurred then drop
another 5%.
If you run into problems e-mail me a copy large enough to print and I'll be
glad to give it a try.
