I believe that the A 24/2.8 has the same optics. Since most Pentax bodies no longer work with pre-A lenses as well as post-A lenses I would suggest holding out for the A version over the K version. Pricing on these can really vary. I bought my sample from KEH 5 years ago for about $300. In the meantime I've seen them from $100 to $300 with most prices between $200 and $300. alex
