Just out of curiouslity, does the focus hexagon appear when you think its in focus?

Am I the only person here who has a hard time focusing manually with the istD's matte screen? I rarely get it right, but could that be because I've only had the camera for a couple of months? I do just fine with my older cameras and my ZX-50.
