I don't think that was sarcasm that was just being mean and grumpy. There is a difference between sarcasm and calling others "stupid suckers". It might have been OK if there was a ;-) but there wasn't. You can disagree with someone and be a pedant to the point of annoyance but there is no need to be insulting.
