I'm glad Gianfranco Irlanda's "The Jewel" was placed near the end
of the gallery, 'cause I kind of got stuck there. Flipping through
this month's submissions, noting the vast number that make me envy
others' skills and the few that didn't quite work for me, when I
hit "The Jewel" I just had to stop and stare, and stare some more,
read the accompanying text, look away, stare again, and leave it
sitting there on my screen for a while as I go do other things and
then come back to my computer.

[expletive], that's [expletive]ing amazing. I think I need that on
my wall. Makes it kind of hard to click the "Next" button.

(Of course, it's good that I finally did click on to the next two
photos -- Rob Studdert's "Acoustics" is hauntingly moody (though
it can't possibly be as haunting to me as it is to someone who
heard the sound track). And the very first photo in this month's
gallery, Amber Dayton's "Daydreamer" certainly impressed me --
right off the bat I was thinking, "Gee, I'm glad this isn't a
competition, 'cause I wouldn't stand a chance." But it's "The
Jewel" that I'm going to leave up on four different monitors
this evening.)

Hey, Gianfranco, ifwhen I have extra money someday, is there any
chance I could get you to make me an 11x14 Cibachrome of that?
