"Two Countries," Gary L. Murphy
A night cityscape is not a new concept, but I enjoyed this photo. First
of all, I like the sharp detail in the foreground. One can actually see
through the windows of some of the business establishments. This gives
the picture a real sense of place. It's not just city lights, there are
things going on here. Of course the detailed foreground yields to a
background of brilliant light. And just at the point where everything
seems to run together, the Mexican flag rises above the million watts of
incandescent lamps. It's not just two countries that this photo depicts,
it is, realistically, two worlds. I find that an intriguing
thought.Overall, a very nice rendering of a somewhat conventional scene.
