I have made some test shots (emailed to a list member) with my *ist D and
the AF500FTZ flash, using TTL-flash metering.
I have used P, P(Tv), P(Av) and M settings. And quite frankly, I can't seem
to get one faulty exposure no matter what I do, except perhaps from shots
where the flash is out of range (long distance).
I have even tried to set the camera to "Auto Sensivity Correction if out of
range" - which means auto ISO setting if necessary. This didn't cause any
bad exposures either - I still got good exposures. All shots were very
usable and the exposure would at the most be perhaps 0.3 or stop or less
off.

How come?
What am I doing wrong here?
What must I do to get some wrong exposures, like everyone else seem to get?
Am I the only one who has a *ist D, that works just like most other Pentax
cameras, manufactured after 1983 (P-series exempted)?

I guess I'll have to do more tests with different flashes.
If I'm lucky I may be able to get bad exposures too.
I would really hate to be the only one on the list who own a Pentax *ist D,
that does TTL-flash flawlessly!

It does. Z-1/Z1p did too.
I don't understand all this exposure failure talk about the TTL-flash and
the *ist D. My *ist D works pretty much exactly like any other TTL-flash
system I have used (Super A, PZ-1/PZ-1p and MZ-S). I have noticed small
diffrerences depending on which FLASH I use. My AF280T over exposes just a
little, but my all my different Metz flahses hit bulls eye IMO. So I can't
really complanin about the camera. Works fine for me!

Could there be any custom setting, that will influence this - perhaps an
auto sensivity (ISO) setting ?

Welcome to the wonderful world of TTL flash, Pentax style.
