It seems to me that the word chimping, as used on this list and I suppose others, has negative connotations and I'm not sure why... not picking on you CB...

Having a preview ability is one of the pluses of shooting digitally. It's akin to, but probably even better than, having a second camera with a Polaroid back. Granted, one can't see everything on a 2" or smaller LCD, but composition/focus/exposure are possible to judge, especially when zooming in on the image.

I've shown people, typically my family the results, because it's fun. It's a secondary instant gratification. I chimp and am proud of it.

Chimping: When one takes a photo with a digital camera and immediately looks to see the image. Ideally, he says "Ooohhh, check this one out" or some such.
