Today, I'd take a hard look at the Intel P4 vs the Athlon - from what I've seen in terms of benchmarks, it seems to holds a slight edge. But, it is pricier. I'd also look at SATA drives. The dual monitor system is a huge plus - the second monitor can be a piece of junk (I have a $25 special from the local consignment shop.) It just holds the menus so it doesn't have to be great.
I have a second PC (950mhz Athlon with 512 meg of ram) that I use for workhorse stuff - like scans, backups of business files etc. It's networked to the primary PC can I can transfer files back and forth, so it's a good place for short term backups.
For image storage, I burn two copies of my digital captures onto DVD's. (Two separate DVD's.) With film - I figure that I can always go back to the original and rescan, so I just burn one copy of the scans.

Subject: OT: Minimum requirements for Photoshop CS?
Hello again all,
I thought I would tap into your experience again. I know these are some of the minimum requirements for Photoshop CS:
1) Intel® Pentium® III or 4 processor
2) Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 3 or Windows XP
3) 192MB of RAM (256MB recommended)
4) 280MB of available hard-disk space
5) Color monitor with 16-bit color or greater video card
6) 1,024x768 or greater monitor resolution
I'm thinking of purchasing a new desktop sometime soon and would like to hear from user of Photoshop CS. What type of a "system" would you build today to work with with Photoshop CS?
What type of system do you have to backup your work?
Also, is $299 a good deal for Photoshop CS?
TIA!
