it is common knowledge that ektar films were higher contrast index than most other color neg films of the time or now. that is not better or worse, just different. with and extremely wide contrast scene for example the higher contrast of ektar would be a disadavantage. I do not believe they had a thinner base or a higher DMAX, just higher overall contrast. JCO
