Hi Frank,

I think my feelings are coincidental with yours wrt film. I'm still
undecided if I want a DSLR, but I really like these smaller, prosumer,
digicams. They make snaps so easy, and, like you said, communicating with
family and friends is just great. I really see no reason to use a film
camera for little snaps, eBay, communicating with folks, sharing
information, and the like. Not long ago someone on the list asked me how a
certain Pentax hood and filter system went together. A quick snap from the
Sony and, bada-bing, in less than a minute they could see for themselves
the relationship of the parts.

I use the digi for so many things. I have keys to many of my client's
homes. One day I was unsure if I had the right key for a particular house.
I took a pic with the digi, emailed it to the client, and in just a moment
she was able to compare the key I had with her key, saving a lot of time
and aggravation.

The idea of a DSLR is very appealing, but 6mp limits the size of the
prints. A full frame sensor, lots of GOOD megapixels, and you've really
got my interest. However, something like the istDs seems like it might be
a good upgrade from the Sony, when the time comes, and a good intro to
using the DSLR, getting familiar with software, printing, and so on.
Still, it's not a replacement for true B&W, I don't give a rat's patoot
what anyone says.
