How? I don't know exactly how. But if it were refurbished by the
manufacturer (maybe it's not) I'm sure they have a way to update whatever
kind of memory device this piece of data is stored on. I would expect 'as
new' to be 'as new'. Like I said, I could be wrong.

How? We're not talking about the number used as part of the
image file name (which *can* be reset by the user), but the
total frame count which is kept internally.
