It's small, it's light, it's cheap; It's technically very capable (8MP, 3fps, 14(JPEG)-shot buffer, RAW+JPEG, optional grip). I'd need to get one in my hands to see how it feels, and to see if the control layout works for me (I prefer the D to the simplified DS, so I suspect I'd like the extra dedicated buttons on the 350/XT).
It's the 800-lb gorilla in the corner, when it comes to DSLR sales. It's taken away much of the clear superiority of the *ist-DS, which is going to make it harder for Pentax to gain any market share.
