This picture which I showed last week, was taken with my SMC
Pentax-FA 2.8 20mm... is this same lens about which you

inquire?

Nice photo! An excellent, crisp feel to it.

Also... anyone... I have a bunch of screwmount Takumars and

also

some F and FA autofocus lenses. I take it that the A and M are
for the bayonet mount Pentax cameras preceeding AF. Is that
correct?

Yes. Bojidar Dmitrov will explain in greater depth:

..What's the difference between A and M as it would
pertain to my DS and my ZX5n?

Regards the ZX-5n, I can't answer as I never owned one of them.

Regards the DS, the A series lenses have all the electrical
connections to the camera's metering system to allow all
metering modes and patterns, control of the aperture via the
body, etc.

M lenses lack the electrical couplings. They can still be used
on the DS with no problems, however. Meter patterns are limited
to CW Averaging and Spot mode, and normally you use these lenses
in Manual exposure mode. A custom function permits you to use
the aperture ring rather than the body control, and the AE-Lock
button operates to stop down the lens and perform a meter
reading, sets the shutter speed from the reading. Aperture
priority AE mode is also usable, but the camera will not stop
the lens down: it operates at fully-open aperture only. Flash
operation is similarly affected: since the DS only does P-TTL
and requires the lens setting to be transmitted to the camera
electrically, the flash operates at full power only and you set
the exposure through the aperture ring.

Whew, it's easier to use these things than to explain them...
:-)
