I've found that the much-maligned Pentax Photo Laboratory can often do a better job with red tones than other RAW converters manage. In this shot of mine from the recent PDML trip, for example <http://jfwaf.com/PDML/images/PDML06.jpg> the colour of the red base varies dramatically between converters, with the colour produced by Photo Laboratory being much closer to the colour I remember. (That's what I used for this example).
