I've found that the much-maligned Pentax Photo Laboratory can often
do a better job with red tones than other RAW converters manage.

In this shot of mine from the recent PDML trip, for example

the colour of the red base varies dramatically between converters,
with the colour produced by Photo Laboratory being much closer to
the colour I remember.  (That's what I used for this example).
