much of the time, i have to pick the subject, the position, and then the
focal length, in that order. many of the places i like to shoot don't offer
much choice in where i can stand. movement forward or backward usually isn't
an option. so, except for the DA 14, i use primes mostly for macro work,
distance wildlife, and street/snap shots. i use zooms most of the time and
mostly in landscapes.
