I've included a small version of the entire picutre. It's a bit
off-center.

Were these taken at the same shutter speed as well as aperture Steve?
Differences are slight but my eyes seem to see slightly better contrast
from
the M lens. Particularly noticeable are the renditions of branches
against
sky immediately above the bench and in the sky segment on the right
hand
side, in both these places the FA lens has them dissapearing although
the M
resolves them - this makes me wonder if the FA has slightly
overexposed
compared to M.

Also - which portion of the frame is the crop from?

Rob.
