Dave, I guess: Either a cable from flash to camrea is not connected right (no cut off) or the RTF-flash is faulty. Or the TTL "mechanism" of the camera does not work.
Does it do TTL with external flashes? If yes, the first may be the problem. The camera must be serviced either way. Regards Jens David Oswald Tue, 03 May 2005 15:12:42 -0700 I'm getting ready to send my *ist-DS to Pentax for warranty service. Before I do I just wanted to call out and see if anyone else has had a similar experience with their *ist-DS flash, and if so, what the outcome was after being serviced. My *ist-DS's internal flash fires at full power always, whenever it's enabled. That means that if I'm 6-10 feet away from the subject, my subject will be completely burned out (white). Subjects from 10-15 feet are still seriously overexposed. This problem manifests itself regardless of whether I'm using my DA 16-45 lens, my FA 28-105, my FA 50 f/1.4, etc. And altering the Flash EV setting in the menu of the *ist-DS has no effect whatsoever. Now, attach my trusty AF330FTZ and take the same shots. The results are beautifully exposed, every time. ...ok, sometimes I have to tone down the flash a half-stop to avoid the smallest amounts of burnout overexposure at close range near shiny subjects, but in general, the shots from the AF330FTZ are perfect. Back to the internal flash... burned out every time at less than 10' range, particularly in low light. Overexposed in low light conditions beyond 10' too. If anyone else has experienced this, please chime in and let me know what ended up happening when you got it serviced. Dave Jens Bladt mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hjem.get2net.dk/bladt
