Hi Frank ...

I'll be playing around with this guy a bit over time, mainly to see what
works better or not.  His face was purposely obscured, as were some details
on his clothing and body.  Most people feel, as do you, that the rendering
doesn't work the way it is.  I tend to agree, but don't know which way I
want to go with it just yet.  Oooh!  I just got an idea ;-))  Stay tuned!

BTW, I don't "dodge" or "burn" in Photoshop.  There are too many other,
better options for showing more or reducing detail ;-))
