Oh yes, IMHO, an MX is to a FM as an Arabian is to a plow horse. Unless a FM is a lot different than an FT3 (contemporary to the MX).
FM and MX would have been approximate contemporaries. I bought my FM in around 1980/81, not sure which.
IIRC, the FM was slightly larger, and had a higher top shutter speed and flash sync (vertical shutter rather than horizontal).
I don't remember much else about the FM.
