So what's a good estimate as to the total in attendance for the photo event @

No, idea. A couple of hundred? Seemed like that to me. But, through one thing 
and another, I didn't attend the lectures, so not totally sure.

However, a couple of hundred extra tourists puts a strain on the rental car 
agencies in the area. Boone isn't all that big, although it's not exactly tiny 
either. OTOH, it's the only big town/"city" in the area.
