Maybe 1.5x the length of typical Pentax wide prime? :-) It's difficult to evaluate the size without actually holding it in your hands. Sometimes a little difference could have a huge impact on how you feel. I personally can live with its size although I also feel it's a little large, but what I don't like is the fixed hood. If you plan to use rectangular filters, FA35/2 might be a better buy, though there is a work around with the FA31/1.8. What were the engineers thinking anyway btw? > And, performance wise (build/optical quality/feel...) would it make A > 35/2 redundant? How about FA 35/2? I don't have FA35/2, but FA31/1.8 performs well optically both closeup & wide open. I am not aware of any other Pentax primes in similar range have such performance. But not surprisingly, it incorporates floating elements and glass AL design, both are quite rare for Pentax. Alan Chan http://www.pbase.com/wlachan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
