I won't put too much credit on this rumors. That pentax should stop making 
desireable lenses are to the contrary to whats actually happening. They have 
just released a Limited lens and more are apparently on their way. In the past 
"Leica quality out of Japan" was more of an accident; now it seems to be Pentax 
policy. Also, the signals sent to distributors is that they can expect more 
niche products in the future.
Most camera companies are in danger of being aquired by larger electronics 
companies. The likes of Hasselblad and Mamiya are soon history or only brand 
names under other companies. Pentax could be strategically interesting for a 
number of electronic giants due to their interest in the DSLR market. Nobody is 
going to sit still watching two companies dominating DSLR market for long...
