I just don't buy this argument. eBay has enough people looking at their auctions that a few PDMLers won't make any difference.

That lens isn't mislisted under Kowa medium format or something where it's hard to find. Anyone who does a 600mm lens search is going to see it.

No, that's precisely it. If you're out looking for (whatever item) fair
enough, you'll find it. But what if you weren't, read the e-mail on list and
think, I'll give that a bid then....

I don't believe for a minute that it will make any difference. There are thousands of people looking at those auctions including photography dealers. You're not going to get a steal on eBay unless the item is grossly mislabeled. If the seller advertised a Petnax lens in collectible dolls or something and you somehow find it then you might have a chance to get a bargain. You're going to burn up a lot of manhours looking for it though.

Bid what you're willing to pay and forget about it. You'll either win it or you won't. This "no mentioning auctions on the list" policy is utter nonsense.

Well, the list's very own Will Robb won the auction, and he only bid on it not long after it was mentioned on this list. Is there a connection? Bill, were you already watching the auction, or were you alerted to it by the post?
