They are (that is the design has the capacity for) the greatest accuracy.
Keep in mind that sniper rifles have exactly the same requirements as match
(competition target) rifles. In fact, military sniper rifles ARE repainted
match rifles. On this basis, some advocate the banning of rifles with
floating bull barrels, the primary defining characteristic of a match (and
therefore sniper) rifle.
