Reports on the MInolta 5400 have been good, but reports on the 5400 II have not been. I know at least two people who were disappointed enough in the 5400 II model that they returned it and took home the corresponding Nikon unit of similar price.
I'm still using the ancient Minolta Scan Dual II and it's still serving well.
