kiosk going through 200 images and selecting ones to print, and few had
the willingness or knowledge of how to do it at home.

Funny you should mention that.
You probably didn't see the change in demographic.
The majority of the consumers for digital pictures at my lab are teenage to early 20's females. they treat the kiosk as a social event, generally there is always a small group of young ladies working on a print order at one of the machines.
