Got an e*-deal.  Tokina AT-X SD 80-200/2.8 for $100.
A little external wear, but generally nice results.

More specifically, for anyone considering this manual
focus lens, it's bit soft at 2.8 (wide open), which
is to be expected.  But after that it's really sharp.
On a tripod you can expect that the results will be
half-way between the more common zooms and the ED/IF
variety of lens.  (I say this having shot several common
zoom lenses and the F*300/4.5.)

There's little or no noticable barrel distortion, typical
of the high quality of Tokina lenses.

For anyone wanting auto-focus, the "pro" version is current.
