I think the best thing to do, ever, is to don't click on *any* link of *any* e-mail, even if they are real paypal / ebay/ bank/ecc mails. (this of course does not apply to the pics posted here... lol)
Do they say you have to check your paypal page? Do you think it's not an hoax? fine, click on the address bar of your browser and _type in_, with your hands, the actual URL. (www.paypal.com or whatever it is). This will reduce the probability to be scanned to 0 (which is "almost" impossible for the statistics ) bye, danilo.
